Christmas Bells is an inspiring poem by American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. He wrote it on Christmas Day in 1863, during the American Civil War. The poem tells of the narrator's despair, upon hearing Christmas bells, that "hate is strong and mocks the song of peace on earth, good will to men".Christmas is a special time To reflect on Jesus Christ The wonder of His lowly birth Brings meaning to our lives There really is no other reason We celebrate this day The birth of God's precious Son And the life He willingly gave But so much seems to distract us In the busyness of our lives We lose our focus in all the happeningsElderly Poems from famous poets and best beautiful poems to feel good. A Christmas Poem for Seniors
'Twas the night sooner than Christmas at Rock-Away Rest,And all folks seniors had been having a look our highest.
Our glasses, how sparkly, our wrinkles, how merry; Our punch bowl held prune juice plus three drops of sherry.
A bedsock used to be taped to each walker in hope,That Santa would carry us soft candy and cleaning soap.
We for sure were lucky to be there with buddies,Secure in this place of dwelling and in our Depends.
Our grandkids had despatched us some Christmasy crafts,Like angels in snowsuits and penguins on rafts.
The dental assistant had borrowed our teeth,And from them she'd crafted a vacation wreath.
The mattress pans, so glossy, all stood in a row,Reflecting our candle's magnificent glow.
Our supper so festive -- the joy would not forestall --Was creamy warm oatmeal with sprinkles on most sensible.
Our salad used to be Jell-O, so jiggly and nice,Then puree of fruitcake used to be spooned on each and every plate.
The social director then had us play video games,Like "Where Are You Living?" and "What Are Your Names?"
Old Grandfather Looper was feeling his oats,Proclaiming that reindeer have been nothing but goats.
Our resident wand'rer was tied to her chair,In hopes that at bedtime she still could be there.
Security lighting fixtures on the new fallen snowMade outdoor seem noon to the outdated people beneath.
Then out on the porch there arose slightly a clatter(But we're so deaf that it simply didn't topic).
A bizarre little fellow flew in through the door,Then tripped on the sill and fell flat on the flooring.
'Twas simply our director, all togged out in purple. He jiggled and chuckled and patted every head.
We knew from the manner that he strutted and jivedOur social- security checks had arrived.
We sang -- how we sang -- in our monotone croak,Till the clock tinkled out its cushy eight-p.m. stroke.
And quickly we were snuggling deep in our beds. While nurses disbursed nocturnal meds.
And so ends our Christmas at Rock-Away Rest.'fore long you can be with us. We want you the best.
